Program Overview

Integrates diverse expertise and current research related to crisis, disaster, and risk management for persons engaged in or seeking professional careers in crisis, disaster, and emergency management in the public, private, and not for profit sectors. Produces innovative research, training, and education that enhances crisis and emergency management, risk management, contingency planning, emergency response, disaster recovery and business continuity, and organizational learning.

Doctor of Science

The program of study is individually tailored for each student and designed to provide the student with the capability to perform substantive research.

 
     
 

Masters of Science

The program of study consists of 12 graduate level courses totaling 36 credit hours. Three types of course requirements are included in the curriculum -- common course requirements, focus course requirements, and approved electives. Common course requirements are taken by all students in the EMSE Master's program. Focus course requirements are taken by all students within the area of focus. Approved elective requirements are courses that require the approval of the student's individual academic advisor. These courses are detailed below.
